Welcome to Psychedelics Support Therapy

Getting the most out of psychedelic journeys

My name is Kate Buchanan, and I provide therapeutic support around psychedelic retreats, including preparation and integration counselling. Based in South West London, I work in person or online with clients across the UK.

Psychedelic Assisted Therapist

As a qualified and registered therapist and counsellor with a busy private practice, I have long been aware of certain types of mental health condition that respond well, but slowly, to talking therapy, such as PTSD or treatment resistant depression. I became interested in how psychedelic clinical trials and legal retreats overseas are showing promising results for lasting change, sometimes following just one significant journey.

I am proud to have been part of the first cohort on the first postgraduate academic course in the UK centred on psychedelics and psychedelic assisted therapy. From here I completed a professional certificate with a leading international trainer in psychedelic studies and became a member of the Institute of Psychedelic Therapists.

Therapeutic Counselling Support Before and After Retreats

I now offer therapeutic counselling support to people travelling to legal psychedelic retreats. Preparation and integration therapy sessions ensure that participants make the most of these profound experiences and also help to keep the journey safer and more held.

Brain plasticity from a psychedelic journey can last up to two weeks post-dosing and many people seek counselling, to help make sense of their retreat, for many months after. I offer pre-dosing preparation therapy sessions and post-dosing integration sessions.

Supporting the Psychedelic Process

I hold the participant in the run up to what often turns out to be a life changing psychedelic experience and I can help them to manage the return to everyday life afterwards. Psychedelic experiences are famously hard to describe and make sense of and yet profound change can occur. I understand the journey and the importance of knowing what we are consenting to and the significance of what emerges.

A Journey Shared...

Whether you're preparing for a psychedelic retreat, returning from one, or simply seeking deeper understanding of recurring emotional patterns, it is common to feel overwhelmed or unsure of how to move forwards. Life transitions, anxiety, relationship challenges or low mood can all become more manageable through a supportive therapeutic relationship.

Creating Space for Insight and Change

Together, we can explore the challenges you're facing with curiosity and compassion. I will help you to understand the roots of your responses, make sense of what emerges during profound experiences and support you in making grounded, healthier choices as you integrate new perspectives into everyday life.

What Can Psychedelic Integration Therapy Help With?

Psychedelic preparation and integration therapy can support healing from a wide range of psychological, emotional and spiritual issues, particularly when used alongside full retreat experiences.

Here are some key areas this can help with:

  • Trauma
  • Treatment-resistant depression
  • Anxiety and existential distress
  • Emotional overwhelm or spiritual crisis
  • Addiction recovery and behaviour change
  • Loss of meaning or purpose
  • Personal growth and insight integration

My Location

I offer psychedelic assisted therapy sessions online and in person from a private room in South West London. I work with clients from across the UK as well as with those travelling internationally for psychedelic retreats.

Fees & Availability

Psychedelic assisted therapy sessions last one hour and I consider 5 sessions (one pre-dosing and four post-dosing) to be optimal in making the most of the time and money invested in a psychedelic retreat.

Note that if you want to cancel an appointment I require 48 hours’ notice.

I accept payment in cash or by bank transfer.
